Ayu-Dag — son of Absinthe and heir to a great sporting lineage

Ayu-Dag was an outstanding Anglo-Akhal-Teke stallion born in 1972 at the Lugovoy Stud Farm in Kazakhstan. A dark bay with a harmonious and refined exterior, he belonged to the category of “Foundation Stallions” (GPK RVP, Volume I, Section 3).
His conformation measurements were 163–165–186–20, with an average bonitation score of 8.1 and an elite-2 class, confirming his exceptional breeding and athletic qualities.

Origins: direct son of Absinthe

The greatest value of Ayu-Dag lies in his lineage. He was the son of Absinthe, the legendary stallion, three-time Olympic champion, and the most famous sport horse in Kazakhstan of the 20th century.
Ayu-Dag inherited Absinthe’s soft movement, natural balance, responsiveness to the rider, and a unique temperament — calm, noble, and hardworking.

Sporting career

Ayu-Dag competed in dressage, demonstrating high trainability, expressive gaits, and confident performance of the required elements.
He worked under an experienced classical rider who noted the stallion’s ability to quickly establish contact and maintain collection even during difficult exercises.
These qualities made him valuable both as a sport horse and as a breeding stallion.

Legacy and final years

The stallion passed away in 2001, leaving a significant mark on Kazakhstan’s horse breeding industry.
As one of Absinthe’s descendants, he played an important role in developing modern sport horse bloodlines, passing on the best traits of his legendary sire.

We also remind readers that the legendary Absinthe left behind 77 descendants around the world.
