Kazakhstan Young Horse Dressage Championship to Take Place in the Almaty Region

On 13 September, the Kazakhstan Dressage Championship for Young Horses will be held at the Kobylandy Stud Farm in the Almaty Region.

The national-level competition will provide an important opportunity to assess the sporting potential of young horses and their readiness for higher-level competitions. Athletes from different regions of Kazakhstan will take part in the championship.

The competition will feature FEI international tests for horses aged 4, 5, 6, and 7 years. Four-year-old horses will compete in the FEI test for 4-year-old horses, while five- and six-year-old horses will perform their respective final tests. Seven-year-old horses will compete in the preliminary FEI test.

There are also age requirements for riders. Riders aged 18 and over may compete with 4- and 5-year-old horses, while riders aged 16 and over may compete with 6- and 7-year-old horses.

According to the preliminary schedule, individual programs are set to begin at 08:00 and 09:00. The exact start times for the tests for 4-, 5-, 6-, and 7-year-old horses will be determined according to the final competition schedule.

During the championship, judges will assess the horses’ level of preparation, quality of movement, partnership with the rider, and sporting potential. Competitions of this kind play an important role in developing a new generation of sport horses in Kazakhstan and preparing them for higher-level international competitions.

The development of young horse programs is an important part of the systematic development of dressage in Kazakhstan. A dedicated championship for this category has been included in the 2026 competition calendar of the Equestrian Federation of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
