Registration Opens for International FEI Coaching Course in Astana

An international training course organized under the International Equestrian Federation (FEI) education program, Introduction to Coaching, will take place on November 2–3 at the Argymak Equestrian and Wellness Complex in Astana.

The course is the first mandatory step in the FEI coaching education pathway and is a prerequisite for admission to the Level 1 Course.

The two-day program is designed to introduce participants to key international approaches and methodologies used in equestrian coaching.

Main Areas of the Program and Skills Covered

Sport Principles and Rules

Participants will study equestrian sport regulations, the Clean Sport concept, and the FEI Code of Conduct for the Welfare of the Horse.

Coaching Methods and the Role of the Coach

The course will cover methods for planning training sessions, developing a personal coaching profile, building the qualities of an effective coach, and keeping records of athletes’ training and development.

Safety and Emergency Response

Participants will learn how to assess the suitability of riding surfaces, check equipment, apply safe mounting procedures, and implement an emergency action plan in the event of an accident. Particular attention will also be given to the inclusion of riders with disabilities in training sessions.

Technical Skills: Dressage and Show Jumping

The program will cover basic riding positions for flatwork and jumping, the correct use of natural and artificial aids, the phases of the jump, and basic arena exercises.

The main mission of the FEI coaching program is to provide a safe environment in which athletes can develop their potential while increasing their motivation through positive experiences in equestrian sport.

The course is open to participants aged 18 and over who have demonstrated knowledge of horse care and management as well as practical riding skills.
