Nurila Turisbekova and Oleg Sokolenko Qualify for Asian Games Final

The opening rounds of the individual show jumping qualification at the 20th Asian Games have concluded at JRA Equestrian Park in Tokyo. A total of 29 of Asia’s leading horse-and-rider combinations took part in the competition.

Riders from Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates were among the leaders of the qualification.

In Competition B, with obstacles up to 1.55 m, Saudi Arabia’s Abdulrahman Alrajhi delivered a flawless performance aboard Lorenzo ES. Sheikha Latifa Al Maktoum of the United Arab Emirates and Ali Alkharafi of Kuwait also finished the round among the leaders.

In Competition A, with obstacles ranging from 1.40 to 1.50 m, Saudi rider Khaled Almobty took the provisional lead with a time of 74.38 seconds, ahead of his compatriot Saad Alajmi, who finished in 75.18 seconds. Humaid Almehairi of the United Arab Emirates completed the top three.

 

Kazakhstan’s show jumping team, returning to the Asian Games after a 20-year absence in the discipline, was represented by all four riders. Ksenia Batalova and LADY DI were the first combination to enter the arena, starting under No. 1. Raisa Sokolenko also competed aboard URAN NAD WIGRAMI.

Following the qualifying rounds, Kazakhstan’s Nurila Turisbekova aboard QUIBELLE VAN D’ABELENDREEF and Oleg Sokolenko aboard CINDERELLA successfully secured their places among the top 20 combinations and qualified for the final.

Tomorrow, October 4, Nurila Turisbekova and Oleg Sokolenko will represent Kazakhstan in the decisive individual competition of the 20th Asian Games.
